We have old cornices and teak beading. Can the new ceiling work with them?
That is usually the better design anyway. We measure the existing profile, set the new band to stop short of it with a shadow gap between, and run the cove where it lights the old detail rather than cutting across it. If a length of cornice is loose, or has been painted flat under many coats, we will say whether it is worth repairing or matching in POP before the ceiling goes ahead.
Can speaker and network cabling be run in the ceiling now for later use?
Yes, and while the void is open is the only sensible time. We pull cable to the positions you think you may use, leave service loops at both ends, label them and mark them on the plan we hand over. Nothing has to be connected now. Adding the same cable after the ceiling is closed means opening a finished surface, which is why it belongs on the drawing from the start.
Once the boarding is done, who paints the ceiling?
Whichever way you prefer, as long as it is agreed in writing first. We can finish with putty, primer and the final coats as part of our scope, or stop at a jointed and puttied surface for your own painter, in which case the quote states exactly what condition the ceiling will be left in. What we will not do is leave it vague, because that is where a surface gets blamed for a paint finish nobody owned.
